About Musculoskeletal Acupuncture (MSA) and Dry Needling

Musculoskeletal Acupuncture and Dry Needling courses take an evidence-based approach to an ancient tradition to treat the musculoskeletal system and orthopaedic dysfunction. The course will provide a strong theoretical and practical component that will allow the practitioner to confidently practice Dry Needling and Musculoskeletal Acupuncture safely and effectively within the clinical setting.

Gino Lo Pilato is an AHPRA registered Osteopath and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. He completed four years of studies in TCM at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and went on to complete a 6 month internship at Nanchang Integrated Hospital of Chinese and Western Medicine, China.  Gino has been teaching for the past 5 years in Biomedical Department at the University of Western Sydney, working in the wet labs.

Gino has a special interest in the integration of manual therapy and Eastern and Western needling techniques. He uses an anatomically accepted approach to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal and systemic conditions using Musculoskeletal, Dry Needling and Traditional Acupuncture techniques.

MSA Dry Needling Level 1 Course

This course is a basic introduction to Musculoskeletal Acupuncture and Dry Needling.  Level 1 aims to give practitioners with little, or no experience in Musculoskeletal Acupuncture and Dry Needling, a firm theoretical and practical foundation in the history, development and application of different styles of needling.

Proposed mechanisms of healing via Musculoskeletal Acupuncture and Dry Needling will also be discussed.  Practical safety and needling techniques will be demonstrated.  The practical component focuses on treatment techniques and strategies for orthopaedic conditions of the upper and lower limb, trapezius and lumbar region. Safe needling of the thorax region shall be discussed. Following completion of assessment of competency, the practitioner will be able to treat musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions with confidence.
